Amblepath Daycare

The Platypus day care facility is a two-storey wood and steel-framed structure with unique architectural massing. Steel-glulam hybrid moment-resisting frames work in tandem with conventional plywood shearwalls to stabilize the structure against earthquake and wind loads. The gravity-load resisting system encompasses everything from conventional stud, truss, and joist framing to parallam and steel beams to exposed rough-sawn joists and glulam beams. The end result is a visually appealing and highly-functional building.
