    BC born and bred, Brian Maver earned his degree at BCIT and Lakehead University. His proudest professional moment came in 2006, when he and Dan Wicke founded WHM. His proudest personal moment? Meeting his future wife Wendy, who was a teaching assistant for her father (and Brian’s professor) in university. Off the clock, Brian, Wendy and their three children enjoy spending time skiing, boating, hiking, and exploring the rugged West Coast together.

    Dan Wicke was born in Toronto, grew up in Sudbury and earned his degree from McMaster before moving to the West Coast. In 2006, he and Brian Maver launched WHM and built its foundation on a collaborative spirit, creative approaches to structural design, and a workplace culture that champions its people. When not at the office, Dan can be found swimming, kayaking, hiking, travelling, or hanging out at his cabin with his wife and three kids.

    This Vancouver-born-and-bred member of the WHM team attended the University of British Columbia and obtained his undergrad in civil engineering in 2003 and Master of Applied Science in 2005. Since joining the WHM team, he has established his bona fides as an expert in wood structures and how to use mass timber to reduce climate change. Away from the office, you can find Mark playing sports, coaching baseball, and enjoying the Great Outdoors with his wife and three children.

    Jacob’s career in engineering was partly inspired by time spent as a child on job sites with his father, a construction superintendent, and his aptitude for math and physics. He credits the collaborative spirit and camaraderie shown by colleagues as reasons why he’s been a fixture at WHM for more than a decade. Away from the office, he and his wife Julia enjoy hiking local trails and spending quality time with their two dogs and three rabbits.

    Kurt’s favourite aspect of WHM is its diversity. Not just culturally, but in terms of skills that members bring to the table. Off the clock, he enjoys playing basketball, practicing Brazilian ju-jitsu, and exploring BC with his wife Jannelle and daughter Luna. “Vancouver is one of the only cities where you can ski, golf and kayak on the same day, and while I have yet to do all three, I’m glad I have the option!”

    Emma came to Canada from China at the age of 19 to pursue a degree at UBC, quickly fell in love with the myriad charms of the wild West Coast and put down permanent roots. She was inspired to pursue her career path by her mother, a civil engineer, and credits the family atmosphere, creative approaches, and emphasis on work-life balance at WHM as reasons why she’s been a fixture at the firm since 2014.

    Samuel was born in Toronto, grew up in Calgary, and set down roots in Vancouver in 2016, three years before joining the WHM family. He’s no one-trick pony, either - he has a Bachelor of Music to complement his diploma in Engineering Technology. An avowed lover of the outdoors, he can be found rock and ice climbing in his leisure time and taking advantage of all the opportunities that the wild West Coast affords intrepid adventurers like him.

    Graham was born in Waterloo, ON and earned a degree in structural engineering at the University of Toronto. Following graduation, he was lured to the West Coast by its embrace-all-seasons lifestyle. To that end, you can find him out and about and taking advantage of all that the wild West Coast has to offer by backpacking, hiking, running, cycling, ’boarding (skate and snow), travelling and cooking, or spending quality time with his cat, Lucy.

    Jordan’s favourite thing about working at WHM is its open-door policy, which he says promotes more effective communication and project management, opportunities to learn from one another, and of course — fun! Outside of the office, Jordan is a figure-skating coach, and also enjoys running, cycling and cooking. Unlike many, he loves ALL aspects of the Vancouver weather. “That includes the rain,” he says. “I lived in California for a year and cannot tolerate the heat!”

    Born and raised in the former Yugoslavia, Savo was drawn to Vancouver to pursue educational and career opportunities and quickly fell in love with the city, its culture and natural beauty. He enjoys working on WHM’s diverse portfolio of projects, materials and systems and that the firm always positions itself on the cutting edge of new technologies. Outside of the office he enjoys playing soccer and spending quality time with his wife and daughter.

    Born in Singapore, Daniel’s parents moved their family to Vancouver in 2003 to provide more opportunities for his education and eventual career. His off-the-clock activities include playing golf and soccer and he’s became a bit of a shutterbug, taking photos of his wife and rescue dog Luna the Lab-ernese while out exploring the city. “Vancouver’s got a little bit of everything for everyone,” he says. “The mountains, ocean, green spaces, and all kinds of great food.”

    Born in Hong Kong, Chris came to the West Coast via Toronto and planted roots in Vancouver in 2014 after seeing the seamless ways that nature and the urban environment meld in BC. When not working with staff members and clients on projects, Chris can be found indulging his love of photography and sharpening his photo editing skills or taking advantage of BC’s all-season atmosphere by playing golf, volleyball or hitting the slopes with his snowboard.

    Originally hailing from the Philippines, Melchor been an integral part of the WHM fabric for many years. He enjoys the firm’s collegial atmosphere, spirit of collaboration between clients and colleagues, and being able to get in on the ‘ground floor’ of projects to see them take shape. When not in the office, you’ll find him playing chess, hiking, cycling or picnicking with friends or his wife and two children and exploring the great outdoors.

    Jason emigrated from Taiwan as a young child with his family and grew up in thrall of the majesty of BC’s great outdoors and seeing how the city he adopted as his hometown kept changing and neighbourhoods reinvented themselves. Today, being outdoors and surrounded by nature brings him peace and happiness, as does playing sports, diving into the city’s vibrant culinary scene, and travelling and exploring new places around the world with his wife.

    Born in India, Shivtaj moved to Vancouver with his parents in 2013. He credits the team-first focus, friendly, fun and welcoming work environment, and professional growth opportunities as a few of the reasons why he’s found an ideal fit at WHM. When not in the office, you’ll find Shivtaj exploring the Great Outdoors, indulging in the wide array of cuisines available at restaurants across Vancouver and spending quality time with his wife and daughter.

    Born and raised in India, Harvinder came to Vancouver to earn his Master’s degree at the University of BC. After graduating, the appeal of living in an urban oasis led him to settle down here with his wife Harloveleen. “Vancouver is a juxtaposition of urban landscape surrounded by pristine nature,” he says. “Its multicultural nature makes it a microcosm of the world, and the weather is nice — except when it starts to rain and forgets to stop!”
