BC born and bred, Brian Maver earned his degree at BCIT and Lakehead University. His proudest professional moment came in 2006, when he and Dan Wicke founded WHM. His proudest personal moment? Meeting his future wife Wendy, who was a teaching assistant for her father (and Brian’s professor) in university. Off the clock, Brian, Wendy and their three children enjoy spending time skiing, boating, hiking, and exploring the rugged West Coast together.

  • Co-Founder, Principal
    P.Eng., PE., Struct. Eng., S.E.

Dan Wicke was born in Toronto, grew up in Sudbury and earned his degree from McMaster before moving to the West Coast. In 2006, he and Brian Maver launched WHM and built its foundation on a collaborative spirit, creative approaches to structural design, and a workplace culture that champions its people. When not at the office, Dan can be found swimming, kayaking, hiking, travelling, or hanging out at his cabin with his wife and three kids.

  • Associate
    MASc., P.Eng., Struct.Eng., S.E.

This Vancouver-born-and-bred member of the WHM team attended the University of British Columbia and obtained his undergrad in civil engineering in 2003 and Master of Applied Science in 2005. Since joining the WHM team, he has established his bona fides as an expert in wood structures and how to use mass timber to reduce climate change. Away from the office, you can find Mark playing sports, coaching baseball, and enjoying the Great Outdoors with his wife and three children.

  • Associate

Jacob’s career in engineering was partly inspired by time spent as a child on job sites with his father, a construction superintendent, and his aptitude for math and physics. He credits the collaborative spirit and camaraderie shown by colleagues as reasons why he’s been a fixture at WHM for more than a decade. Away from the office, he and his wife Julia enjoy hiking local trails and spending quality time with their two dogs and three rabbits.

Kurt’s favourite aspect of WHM is its diversity. Not just culturally, but in terms of skills that members bring to the table. Off the clock, he enjoys playing basketball, practicing Brazilian ju-jitsu, and exploring BC with his wife Jannelle and daughter Luna. “Vancouver is one of the only cities where you can ski, golf and kayak on the same day, and while I have yet to do all three, I’m glad I have the option!”

Monica’s favourite aspect about WHM is the supportive atmosphere and that people celebrate personal and professional victories. “I’m lucky enough to call my colleagues friends, and that’s a big reason why coming to work is always enjoyable,” she says. A self-confessed ‘gym rat’ and hiker who hits the trails and works out whenever possible with her partner, she also enjoys slowing it down and sitting by the ocean for a coffee with her dog and daughter.
